a chance to deepen your practice
on saturday July 27th we are running an urban retreat here
at land of yoga, with a major focus on meditation. normally people need
to go away to practice retreat, and often this can be costly and take a
few days. the idea of urban retreat is to give people a chance to
practice deeply in a supportive environment, just for a day, while we
continue our busy lives in the city.
is a chance to put some extended time into your meditative practice, to
locate a 'feeling', without being distracted by 'worldy dramas'. by
taking time to go deeper, we draw the threads of our energies more
inwards. we locate the balance, wisdom and deep calm which is lying
within. it's always there, we just need to hone in on it, instead of
being outwardly distracted.
day runs naturally - depending on the mood and energy of the group.
there'll be plenty of time for rest and restoration... as well as a
lunch break which we can spend together talking about our experience of
the practice. we'll also do some zen walking, plus heaps of guided
meditation, more meditation, and more meditation..!
it won't be very difficult, and the time will go quite quickly. it's
also meant to be fun, and everyone is invited to express themselves,
ask questions, and contribute opinion. we work together as a group...
but most of all we practise, practise, practise. this gives the best
this urban retreat suits any level. everyone can go at their own pace,
and take rests at any time. all the techniques will be 'doable', or at
least 'tryable'. toby will explain everything along the way, and
monitor how everyone is handling things.
it should be very relaxing, and deeply beneficial!
