Hi everyone,
isn't it amazing how a person can get so caught up
in a week of events and lose perspective and balance?
The only way to get this back is with meditation.

Stopping, being still, breathing, being Aware.

This is Health - and real life.

HEALTH REPORT
from Doctor Qu'ac

1. Do you think it makes any difference whether you use the Indian names for
poses and say Indian stuff like 'Namaste' and 'Shanti, Shanti, Shanti'?

2. What would be your recommendation for your average garden variety
neurotic to slow down and get a bit of yoga practice (in any way, shame or
form) into the day...Starting from nothing, going to something?

3. What effect do you think consuming meat has on a yogic way of life? What
about alcohol, what about caffeine...what about really good coke?!
(Questions by Leonie Baroney)

Doctor Qu'ak speaks:
1. With the Indian names, maybe it really matters,
maybe not. The western words are direct translations,
of course, so it makes sense to me to imagine a mountain
because that's it's name and the pose looks like a mountain...
(keep in mind, Australians are notoriously bad at languages
and most Aussie yoga teachers use the Indian names poorly!).
The use of namaste and Shanti is pretty wankerish-try-hard
to my mind, because it seems Copying rather than Being.
I'm not Indian so I don't have to act like an Indian.
Maybe I could use English words for the same thing.
Maybe I'm too cynical here.
2. Either sitting down, doing slow deep breathing for 5 mins,
or standing - slowly reach up and back stretch, then
reach over towards toes stretch, then back up again, then
back down again - 5 mins - slow, gentle, relaxed, good breathing.
3. A Yogic way of life goes the way it needs to go,
at the right pace. Meat-eating remains as long as the body
still understands it and is in accord with it.
Once that ends, there will be no need for meat eating.
Alcohol, drugs, coke - none of these will be relevant
once one enters a true yogic state...in the meantime,
they are merely distractions, stimulants, and amusements.

MEDITATION AND INSANITY

(A serious discussion by Toby Wallace)

"Lately I've been walking along the fence-line of Insanity.
It's safe on this side, and I can go right up and grab it,
stick my nose through, and easily see what's on the other side.
The walk is slow, casual, and comfortable.
Now I've actually set up camp here,
and have days and nights to wait and watch..."

Discussion of the Month:
HONESTY

"You are your Word."

One idea that I learned a couple years ago
has always been crucial to me:
"If there is a hole in your word
there will always be holes in your life".

It's a Landmark education theory -
that a person's life will always be messy
so long as they lack Total Integrity.
I've observed this over time and seen it as irrefutable.

Going deeper - I think a lot of people are not honest
with other people, nor themselves.
While children start out as wonderful examples of honesty,
they pretty quickly get this stamped out
by vehement politically-correct adults!

So many people find problems in their love- or work-
relationships because they were not able to directly and honestly
communicate exactly what they felt or believed.
This inevitably causes problems:
political correctness is actually Dysfunctional.

Acting like you like someone is a dangerous game to play
...if fraud becomes a familiar behaviour
it not only reinforces a life of lies, it also leads to schizophrenia.

Then there is the great subject of denial,
a common reality in relationships, health, and life.
Many people 'act' like they are happy, in love, being generous,
trying to change, that they care, or that they trust.

Denial is insidous and has damaging long term effects.

People who are not always honest
and who misrepresent the truth according to their needs
have a behaviour of denial, manipulation, and deceipt.

On the other hand, people who are totally accountable
for the commitments they give in word and acts
are wonderful friends to have.

THERAPIES:

Holistic Bodywork
for rejuvenation and wellness

Holistic bodywork is a natural therapy using
intuitive touch and chi healing techniques
to address the specific cause of imbalance and stress
in a person's body. During the bodywork treatment,
light to medium pressure is applied to key points
in connective tissue to release deep tension,
clear blockages and restore the body's ability to heal itself.

Each session is unique and flows
in accordance with the specific needs of the client.
Treatments alleviate unwanted anxiety, relax the mind,
and rejuventae and energise the body.

Tracy Marcuzzi holds a Diploma in Holistic Counselling,
Chi Nei Tsang Certificate (Oakland, USA),
 Spiritual Counselling Certificate (Berkeley, USA),
Reiki 1+2 and is a member of the Australian Holistic Healers Assoc.
