October 31st 2007
Hello everyone,
Christmas is coming faster than
your breath
but don’t worry it will pass too!
Thanks for your contributions,
some of them will be addressed in
this edition.
Thanks Jen for the muffins!
(And if anyone has an overflowing
lemon tree
we’d love your giveaways!)

Fact: Lemon helps clean the liver
and is ideal for flushing out
toxins.
A lemon water every morning makes
a happy drunk!

TOPIC FOR THE WEEK:
CELIBACY
- AN EXCURSION IN ENERGY
Many of you know I recently became
Celibate,
and this provided many interesting
discoveries.
It was not a decision made out of
Control,
but rather, an inclination that
occurred naturally.
Complete non-engagement with all
thoughts sexual,
feelings, and a harnessing of energy
up the spine.
The Kundalini aspect of sexual
energy is an ancient study.
To me it was all an amazing
experience
to engage differently with a world
that for many people is
compulsively hooked into the other sex.
At least for my world, it was a
change,
and there was a great freedom of energy.
I felt much more a ‘master’ of
social space
and was daily drawing the root
chakra energy up the spine,
and with tongue touching the roof
of the mouth,
back down the front (to keep it
cycling).
At least one effect was a dramatic
increase in dreams.
Media had a much smaller effect on
me (!)
and the social scene seemed at
times a bit inane.
I am personally interested in the
‘maya’ concepts of
social interdependence,
the almost assumed necessity to
find a ‘mate’;
and even beliefs in the primal
cellular training
that says we are programmed to
mate.
All of these concepts, as
energetic fields,
and the ‘normal order of things’,
did not appear to me so fixed.

HEALTH
TOPIC OF THE WEEK
Thank you to Mr.X, who requested
the following:
“Dear
Doctor Qu’ac,
can you
please talk about living with/
dealing with a Hypochondriac (!).”
Doctor
Qu’ac says:
Well I only live with Louise the
fat cat
who certainly is self-obsessed but easy to placate with food!
Seriously, anyone who has lived
with a hypochondriac
knows what it is like to be
dominated by dysfunctional behaviour.
The hypo always wins, but really,
those living an internal struggle
of
mental and physical health are not
winning.
And if it is true that only the
strong feel ready to give,
certainly the hypochondriac does
not feel inwardly powerful.
While Compassion is a beautiful
and difficult thing,
pandering to a neurosis does not
really work either.
Allowing someone to dominate a
relationship is still a Choice
actively made, and resentment
often breeds underneath.
Being honest is usually my
inclination -
tempered with understanding and a willingness to stand for
support.
Most self-obsessed people are
unaware of the impact they have on others
…so let them know what its really like
for you
(ideally, as a 2-way discussion
rather than as a criticism!).
On a consciousness level, the
person in your room
is merely reflecting what you are
needing to resolve
- so the hypochondriac in your
life is an opportunity
to practise love for others as
well as your Self.
Calling a person into
responsibility is an offer
to empower them. Otherwise leave?
FOR
FEEDBACK OR REQUESTS,
PLEASE WRITE TO DOCTOR QU’AC.

PRANAYAMA: WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT?
The breath is the key to your
Health.
A body that does not have
wonderfully clear movement of breath
not only through the lungs but
also the sinuses
is much more likely to have high
blood pressure,
muscular stress, mental stress
(guaranteed!),
emotional stress (guaranteed!),
and differing versions of ill-health.
Pranayama means ‘the extension of
the dimensions of Prana’
(which can be understood as
Breath)’.
It is the study of subtlety in and
around the respiration system.
Most people are completely unaware
of how restricted
their own breathing is.
A class in Pranayama is a simple
way to expose this.
And then to correct it.
Massive breakthroughs can occur
once the breathing is understood.
These practises are far more effective than
the Yogic stretching -
especially for therapeutic purposes and advanced
illnesses.
Every
Thursday 6.30-8.00am is a Pranayama Only Class.
It is gentle, thoroughly relaxing
and refreshing,
and often enlightening.
